Mary Arcana, Principal

Mary Arcana heads Biotecher and has over 13 years of recruiting experience in the biotech industry. Her specialty is expediting priority placements for drug and medical device companies. Mary's clients have ranged from early start-ups to global leaders. From 1998 to 2004, she led R&D recruitment and business development efforts for MRBiotech—a biotech office of Management Recruiters International—where she served as Director of R&D Recruiting. Her initial focus in R&D gave her a thorough understanding of drug and device lifecycles. This foundation served her clients well when she started Biotecher in 2004 and expanded her practice to placing talent all along the product development pathway, from concept to commercialization.

Prior to her time in biotech, Mary held key leadership positions in other industries including internet research, media relations, restaurant ownership, and film production. She has successfully built and managed teams of up to 40 people. Her experience as a leader and hiring manager and exposure to diverse business practices have enabled her to quickly grasp client needs and consistently deliver rare talent within aggressive deadlines.
