Mary Arcana, President has over 20 years of biotech recruiting experience during which she’s developed a reputation as a skilled staffing troubleshooter able to resolve particularly tough talent searches. Her diverse life science clientele have included drug development, medical device, and diagnostic companies ranging from early startups to global leaders. Mary previously served as Director of Research & Development at MRBiotech where she was responsible for all business development and recruitment activities within that sector. Her initial “upstream” concentration helped her gain foundational insight into the science and business of product lifecycles and led to a big-picture perspective of the industry as a whole. Mary founded Biotecher in 2004 to broaden her recruitment services beyond the confines of R&D to encompass skillsets all along the product development pathway from early discovery through preclinical, clinical, product-launch, and commercial stages. Prior to her tenure in the biotech industry, Mary held leadership roles in information technology, media relations, restaurant ownership, and the film industry. Mary’s eclectic career included leading one of the first internet research companies and building multi-disciplined teams of up to 40 people. Her expertise, honed by her breadth of experience as a cross-industry business leader, public speaker, and media spokesperson and her broad exposure to diverse business models has enabled her to quickly grasp employer needs, collaborate efficiently with time-strapped hiring authorities, and consistently deliver exceptional, difficult-to-find scientific and managerial talent to help her client-companies achieve their goals and objectives.
